Your current default setting for shift notifications is ON and 15 minutes before shift. This has caused massive confusion with our volunteers. Not only should the default for this feature in the app be set to OFF and let the user decide whether they want reminders, but as I understand it, if you turn on use of the mobile app in the admin UI for an Opportunity, Volunteers get reminder messages whether they downloaded the app or not! This has caused confusion with our volunteers.
It also means that if we WANT our volunteers to use the Mobile app, everyone else gets shift broadcast messages whether they want them or not.
This is the explanation I got.. I contend that this is a bug and a bad one.
Hi, Abram
If the mobile app tab is turned on within the opportunity those broadcast reminders are going to go out to the volunteers. If they don't have the app downloaded it will follow that three tier system.
1. It first attempts to send the notification to the mobile app as a push notification.
2. If the user is not logged into the mobile app, it will send the message as an SMS (text message) if a mobile phone number is entered in their profile.
3. If neither of the above is possible (example no mobile app or phone number), the message will be sent as an email.
It sounds like because Judith does not have the mobile app downloaded or a phone number listed it sent the email.
From what I'm gathering the only way to completely turn the notifications off is to turn off the mobile tab within the opportunity set up.

PLEASE fix this. This is a massive issue for our volunteers as well. Nothing should send without the organization's explicit configuration. This is so frustrating. We want to be able to use the app but our shifts are in 30-minute increments, so volunteers end up getting blasted with notifications which is terrible.
