Our organization has many ongoing, remote volunteer projects, and we need a way for volunteers to sign up for these projects and track their hours without tying them to a specific event date or shift.
Currently, Bloomerang requires a shift date for all volunteer projects, which doesn’t work for ongoing tasks that don’t fit the “event” model. We need the ability to:
Post projects that are not connected to a specific date or shift – for example, “Newsletter Submissions” or “Content Creation.”
Allow volunteers to sign up for these ongoing projects so they can indicate their interest and stay connected to the opportunity.
Enable volunteers to log hours at their own pace as they work on the task, without additional administrative work from our staff.
Example:
If we post a “Newsletter Submissions” opportunity, volunteers could sign up, independently write an article, and log their time directly in Bloomerang—without us having to manually collect and enter those hours.
This functionality would be massive for us and many other organizations running remote, independent, or ongoing volunteer projects. It would streamline hour tracking, reduce administrative overhead, and empower volunteers to self-report in real time.
Hi there,
In this scenario, I recommend creating a generic opportunity and listing all of your projects as Roles. Volunteers can then sign up for a specific role (with only the Role Selection step enabled in the signup workflow). From there, they can log their own hours as they complete the work.
Thanks,
