Apply third party gifts (soft credits) to pledges

Allow a payment sent through a third party intermediary (ie donor advised fund, workplace giving program, United Way) to count as a payment towards a donor's pledge.

This would alleviate so much confusion between our fundraising department and the accounting department. Reporting has become a nightmare because of us trying to balance our books by lowering pledge amounts.

This is exactly what I suggested! Definitely would be worth looking into for our ease of use and management

YES, I just requested this today and it has already been marked not a priority. This is a really needed feature

It would also be helpful to be able to convert recurring donation payments to pledge payments. I have some donors who make a pledge, but prefer to set up the payment themselves online, which sets it up as a recurring donation schedule. I haven't found a way to convert it or apply the payments to the pledge.

This is a frequent issue. When a donor sends a pledge payment through a DAF or other third party, I have to go in an manually adjust the pledge. This corrects the pledge balance, but creates issues with some of my campaign reporting. Allowing a way to apply a soft credit as a pledge payment would be a game-changer for me!

The lack of this functionality is very frustrating. Having to delete/update pledges is time consumming and unfortunate.

Many donors who make a pledge are of a capacity to utilize donor advised funds for their giving. It's really messy to not be able to log the payments/pledges correctly.

This IRS document explains that a personal pledge can be fulfilled with a distribution from a donor advised fund. Our organization does not consider any pledge as legally-binding. We consider it as an "intent to give." I believe many charities would consider pledges in the same light. Because of this, allowing a donor advised fund payment to count to a donor's pledge would be helpful.
