Notificant Letters for Tribute Gifts

In addition to the existing tools to send an acknowledgement letter to a donor for a tribute gift, we're considering adding a feature to send acknowledgment letters to the family (ie notificants).

  • Automatically uses the notificants linked to the tribute to reduce errors from double entry in soft credits or custom fields.

  • Tracked directly on notificants' timelines to keep a comprehensive record of communications with each constituent.

  • New merge fields unique to notificant acknowledgement letters (like donor's address block) so you can focus on personalizing letters rather than just reformatting them.

It's already possible to connect multiple notificants to a single tribute, please reach out to the support team if you'd like some guidance on how to do that :)

You need to allow more than one notificant to a tribute then. When an important member of our community dies we get multiple tributes to the same person, but multiple different notificants. Some go to the surviving spouse, some to brothers or sisters of the deceased, etc. As it is, we don't use the notificant feature, because it is essentially useless to us.

This would be very helpful, as we are currently using an external letter or email template, and then saving the resulting PDF as an interaction (or using the BCC on the email to have Bloomerang automatically add), and it requires looking in multiple places for the info to include in the notification (increasing the chance of manual error). Hadn't thought of Guest's workaround!

We'd like this ability for both letters AND emails. And for single or multiple donors.

Furthermore, it would be really nice if the online Bloomerang forms could handle tribute information. It can be "kludged" as Guest has done with custom fields, but that is effectively duplicating fields that Bloomerang already has. Our donors are currently either adding notificant information to a note or sending us a separate email (putting the burden on the donor) and we are then manually setting the Tribute field.

It would be great if this could be tied to custom transaction fields on online giving forms...we capture the information regarding notificant wishes in custom fields on those forms, and if we could integrate that more seamlessly with the acknowledgment process, that would be super helpful. My current workaround has been to create a transaction for $0 on the notificant's record and then generate an acknowledgment letter for that fake transaction, and then delete the transaction later. That way, the letter will be recorded on the notificant's timeline, rather than the donor. It's quite cumbersome, as you can tell.
