Imagine how you can assign a letter and generate the letter when you save a donation... but for email templates. Design your standard acknowledgement emails in Bloomerang (same as you do today), pick which email you want to send on the gift screen, then send the email and log the interaction directly after saving the gift.
I would like some flexibility in this solution. We have volunteers that do our data entry and then staff reviews and sends acknowledgements. Anything that would be automatic doesn't work for us. We would like the ability to send an email directly from the transaction but not if it happens once the gift is saved. We need to be able to review data entry first.
Please, please add this feature. Having a non-automated means to generate email to a donor when entering the transaction, similar to the great feature offered for acknowledgment letters, would be a much appreciated enhancement!
We have automatic receipting on and we'd like to have it NOT send automatic emails when we enter a donation manually. Sometimes our offline donations don't get added for a few weeks and we've already sent the person the acknowledgement - so getting another email as though they JUST donated is awkward. We turn off automatic receipts, enter donations and soft credits manually, then turn it back on. Except sometimes we forget, which causes problems. Please fix this!
PLEASE add this. We send email responses for nearly all our membership renewals, and I have to manually set up the "bulk" email based on our QGiv transaction ID. Being able to assign the email within the transaction would make life MUCH easier.
I came on here to recommend this very option. We have been emailing donors who submit online donations. We like to respond in the same manner a donor has reached out to us. So - online donations receive online acknowledgement. Some of the donors use this format as a way to reduce their carbon footprint and save trees. They do not wish to receive a physical letter. This option is very much needed. Thanks!

Agreed! This would save so much time and should be prioritized as an immediate need.
We are very new to Bloomerang and are very disappointed that this feature is not currently available. We are a non-profit that would like to provide timely email acknowledgements based on the donor's specific reason for donating (based on a designated campaign or appeal) and were really surprised to find out that this isn't currently an option. I really hope you this can be moved to the very top of your upgrade list.
Please prioritize this ASAP. The comment about email receipting is not relevant because you cannot customize the letter itself. There are no amount of merge fields that can use logic to thank someone for being on the Board, for coming to a volunteer event, etc...
Just a heads up to anyone looking for this feature: I found out you can enable automatic email receipts which allows for customization of the message, similar to an Acknowledgement "Letter." Hope this helps anyone that's been looking for this kind of function on the site. It's there, it just has a different name.

This feature would be greatly appreciated by my organization! We are working on prioritizing donor connection and acknowledgment in a timely fashion, and we were excited about the prospect of an email acknowledgement generated on save of the transaction. We were disappointed to learn that it was only capable of generating a "letter" on save. Because our organization is moving away from snail mail communications in an effort to conserve resources, mailing a letter acknowledgment is not a realistic option.
Please Prioritize this feature. We are also new to Bloomerang and very disappointed that this was not a feature.
This feature is a huge priority to increase efficiency within our organization. Donor stewardship is built off of timely acknowledgement and communications. Most donors are requesting email communications to cut down on paper. With a move to a digital world, the ability to have an email automated each time a transaction is entered would save our small staff a lot of time and increase our connections with donors.
We are just switching to Bloomerang and, honestly, had I known this was not something available, I probably would have thought seriously about going with another platform. Please prioritize this.
Please prioritize!! The lack of this feature is adding considerable time to every gift we enter and is ripe for mistakes and errors. Being able to email with the templates by one offs, should be such a basic feature, it didn't occur to me to inquire about it when we switched to Bloomerang. It's the one reason I'm not recommending this incredible platforn to others when asked.

Yes, please! This is available in other platforms and is a needed improvement to the acknowledgement process. As another commenter mentioned, you should also be able to edit the email before sending it.
We're a paperless organization. The letters feature does not help us. The ability to email an acknowledgement for an in-kind gift would be a game-changer for us. Currently, we send a scheduled email every night, but having the email sent in the same fashion as financial gifts would be greatly appreciated.
I support this. Recently, I received an email acknowledgement for a gift I gave at a donor event, rather than a mailed letter, and in talking with others this seems to becoming a growing practice. Right now the only way to do this in Bloomerang is to save a letter as a PDF and attach it to an email
Agree... although it would be important to be able to edit the email before sending, just as you can a letter before printing. This would greatly improve the email function (which is limited without conditionals) and allow us to use a generic email template but then modify it easily for each constituent.
